John Bitar

John Bitar is a native of Beirut, Lebanon. In 1999, he was awarded a scholarship from a Bible Institute located in Dallas, Texas. Upon his arrival, he began serving in two Arabic Christian Churches, one in Dallas and the other in Fort Worth. In 2003, John received a master’s in ministry from Criswell College. In 2004, he joined Good News for the Crescent World (now Good News Global Outreach), a ministry focused on equipping the church to effectively share the Gospel with Muslims in the United States. He became the Executive Director of the organization in 2010, guiding its mission and expanding its reach. John completed a Ph.D. in Missions with a concentration on Islamic studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2017. Since the onset of the Syrian refugee crisis in 2011, he has participated in mission trips across the Middle East, Europe, and parts of Asia, including countries like Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Greece, Switzerland, France, and Taiwan, to reach out to refugees and equip local believers for this mission. In addition to his ministry work, John has been serving as an adjunct professor at Dallas Theological Seminary since 2019.

A Story of Transformation

  • I grew up in Lebanon during a civil war between Christians and Muslims. At 14, I was shot by a sniper—leaving a bullet in my back that remains to this day.

  • At the time, I was a nominal Christian, filled with bitterness and hatred. I even vowed revenge against Muslims.

  • But Jesus met me in that darkness.

  • He transformed my life—replacing hatred with forgiveness and giving me a passion to share the Gospel with those I once called enemies.

  • What I meant for evil, God turned into good.

  • Many are the plans in man’s heart but only the purpose of the Lord will prevail. (Proverbs 19:21)

  • This course is the result of that transformation—and a calling to help others do the same.
